Meet the founders of Hidden Forest Elephant Reserve. With over 60 years combined experience caring for Asian Elephants. Together they have dedicated their lives to the welfare of these beautiful animals and the education of tourists in Phuket.

Louise Rogerson

Co-Founder

Louise has lived in Asia since 1997 and has spent more than fifteen years rescuing and rehabilitating elephants across Thailand and beyond. Her connection with elephants began in Sri Lanka as a child, and in 2010 she dedicated her life to helping those once used in tourism and logging.

Over the years, she has co-founded several ethical sanctuaries and personally overseen the rescue and care of dozens of elephants. Her work helped launch Thailand’s first non-bathing elephant project — a model that reshaped the country’s understanding of compassionate wildlife tourism and inspired change throughout the region.

That same philosophy of empathy and sustainability became the heart of Wild & Grey. Each piece she helps design carries the quiet spirit of the animals she’s protected and the forests that now shelter them. When she isn’t developing new collections or photographing campaigns, Louise can be found at Hidden Forest Elephant Reserve — the sanctuary she helped build — spending time with the herd that started it all.

Mr Kong

Co-Founder Hidden Forest

Kong is from Nakhon Si Thammarat in Southern Thailand and is one of the most respected and experienced elephant professionals in the country. With more than forty years of daily experience caring for elephants, he learned the art of elephant welfare from his father and grandfather before him.

His knowledge is vast — from diet and health to social behaviour and rehabilitation — and his calm, patient manner has guided the recovery of many sick, injured, and elderly elephants. Kong’s philosophy is simple: allow elephants to live freely, without shows, performances, or pressure — just care, understanding, and respect.

Russell Withers

Co-Founder

Based in Asia since 2015, Russell brings a background in international marketing, photography, and digital design to the team. He helped found Phuket’s first ethical elephant project in 2016 and has worked hands-on with elephants across Thailand and Cambodia, focusing on positive, observation-based welfare.

At Wild & Grey, Russell oversees brand growth and creative direction — shaping how the story of ethical travel and mindful design is told through imagery, technology, and apparel. His approach blends compassion with precision, ensuring that everything the brand produces reflects the values born from years spent in the field beside the elephants.
